Regan Makes Me ROLL!!
Tonight:
After stories and songs, I was holding Regan and she was giving me a big hug and kisses. She decided it was funny that my lips made a “smacking” noise after I kissed her so she kept giving kisses trying to make her own smacking noise.
Well, all the sudden she says, “Let me try this” and she puts one hand on each side of my face and lays one on me while moving her head back and forth!!! OMG!!!! What does this child know?!?!?
To be perfectly honest though, I was rolling so hard that I had tears leaking out of my eyes. We were both laughing like hyenas.
Yeah, it was a good night!!
Whoo Hoooooooo!!!
So yesterday was another good day for Regan at school, she didn’t have any accidents. I told her last night before I left her room that if she had to go potty that she could get up and go. I did actually use the gate last night just to make sure that she didn’t decide to go downstairs and check things out. (Of course, the rest of the house is pretty much dark so what am I worried about?! Well, there could be a trip down the stairs and we don’t want that either). Anyway, we picked out her clothes this morning and she said she was going to dress herself. I said that sounds great! I asked her if she used the potty last night and she said “no”. I asked her if she pooped in her pull-up and she said “I don’t know, it doesn’t feel like I did”. I asked her to lay down for me and I opened it up to find……
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! I opened it and I said, “What is all this”? and she started to look at me funny, so I said “feet up” and she rolled up in a ball and I pulled out the pull-up from under her and held up the inside part and said, “What is this”? and she started to giggle. She said “there is nothing there” and I flipped it over and said “What do you see on the front”?, she says “I see flowers!!!!”
Seriously people, she hasn’t been dry at night in probably a good 6 – 9 months. I’m so excited for her and us. She was helpful this morning, she listened, she turned out lights, she buttoned her own shirt (with just a little bit of help), she was just PLEASANT this morning!
What a change.
Pee at Midnight
Okay, so I don’t know what damn time it was however I got up this morning and used the Potty. There was already some “stuff” in there. (Listen, I was half asleep and just needed to pee, don’t ask me specifics I just noticed that it had already been used). I got downstairs and David tells me that someone used the potty last night…..(I thought to my self: Self,….nope, it wasn’t me). He goes on to say that there was some pee and a little bit of toilet paper in the potty. Ah ha! (Yes, the 2-watt lightbulb just went off). “Cool” I say. He says when he walked out of our room this morning it was really noisy in the hallway and he realized that it was Regan’s fan – her door was cracked open again. We did close it last night.
So I ask her about it this morning and she says “No, I didn’t go”. I tell her “You aren’t in trouble, I would just like to know if you went”, pretty much got the same answer the whole time. Until she slipped up and said “Don’t tell my teachers.” I asked “Don’t tell your teachers what?” “That I peed.” Uhm, HELLO?!?!?!??!?!?!?! So I finally keep on her and tell her that she might get something special out of telling me that she did use the potty. So she finally owned up to it, I gave her a HUGE hug and told her that I was really proud of her and that she can do this. I also told her that she might get a special treat after school.
So now I would like to step up the “prize” if you will. She has been peeing during awake daylight hours for a while now. Last week was the first week of not having accidents during naptime. Last night was the first night for a nighttime pee break. Has anyone out there given anything more for peeing at night than during the day or did you keep it all the same?? Thanks for any input.
And the stars aligned
Seriously people, what I have to share here is told in a whispered voice in case I EVER have to do this again. (Actually 2 things to share and the 2nd one is the one that is whispered!)
First, Regan didn’t nap Sunday afternoon (Shocker, I know). She did nap well Monday back with Cille. Yesterday with Cille – uhm, no. So last night she said I was reading and singing to her. She wanted to lay on me, I told her for reading that was fine, but she would need to lay next to me for songs. She wasn’t happy, HOWEVER we worked it out! So song time comes and I can just tell that she is exhausted. 3 Christmas songs later and a little talk, then onto humming lullaby. I was also tired so for songs I had my eyes closed and sometimes this works in my favor. Last night was one of those nights. She passed out by the end of lullaby (I hum it twice) right before 8pm. WHOO HOO!!! Now the fun part was getting untangled from the vise like grip around my neck and then that same hand cornering my hand, between her body and her arm, but I made it and she slept ON.HER.DORA.BED.ALL.NIGHT! Since I knew she was out, I got to actually close her door last night too! ALL THE WAY – no cracks.
Come closer, I really can’t just blurt this out. Secondly for the night, I realized at about 9pm that her nightlight is NOT ON! ACCCKKKKK (Oh, shhhhhhhhhh, remember stay quiet!). If the child wakes up in pitch dark she will freak, absolutely. So, I get a new bulb, I go upstairs, I set the lighting in the hallway so that it isn’t bright as mid afternoon. I sllllllooooooowwwwwwwwwllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, turn the knob on her door, I pray that it won’t stick, it doesn’t do too bad. I tiptoe across the floor, kneel down in front of the nightlight (creak, crack, go the knees), I slowly pull the nightlight out of the outlet. I slide the cover off the unit, I unscrew the lightbulb and replace with new one. I get the whole thing back together and stick it in the outlet………NOTHING. (ssshhhhh, crap). So I get smart and I put the old bulb back in, and I tiptoe out of her room, into the bathroom, pull out that nightlight, plug in her nightlight and NOTHING, I try the new bulb too, NOTHING. Well at least I know it is the plug-in part that is bad. So I used the bathroom nightlight in her room, NEVER (shhhh) woke her up and made it back out of the room safe and sound and she was never the wiser!!!!! I’m sorry, but she is a VERY light sleeper so that was AMAZING!
Azaleas
Very exciting news people.
Ya know how I actually posted about my “weekend” about a month late? Well…..I saw, not one, but TWO buds on one of the smaller bushes. I swear I will be taking pics tonight to post soon. I can’t tell you how damn excited I am about this!!!! It means that they are surviving for now and that they are growing and doing what they need to do!!!!!
I just had to share!

Tonight
Hopefully I will get out of work to enjoy myself at a pool this evening with Regan. Looking forward to it, even if I get there late.
Oh, another couple things
Okay, part of this is for Michelle* still:
I didn’t share with you all the crazy things I do here at work that either pick me or Michelle up. We are all fairly laid back here and we get away with a lot of laughing (thank GOD!!!!). Every once in a while I have to whip out Mary Katherine Gallagher, and for those of you that have no idea what I’m talking about, watch the movie ‘Superstar’, if you don’t want to watch the whole thing, enjoy the trailer:
My favs to do are the armpit and the Superstar stance. Yes, I truly am a crazy person.
The other thing is that Michelle loves is Ami from Miami Ink (anyone watch much, check it out sometime). If you don’t get it, then I will share a picture (because a picture is worth a 1000 words, right?). Just so that you know, Michelle likes Ami so much in fact that we have him (that exact picture)as our background to each other on IM. Yeah, it is THAT deep! LOL

On another front, Hubby and I are having nighttime issues with Regan again. She is scared of the dark, to the point that she is literally SHAKING in my arms when I get my hug. She has a nightlight. And we have been through this before. I don’t know why this phase keeps coming up. So, she happened to receive a Pink and White (stuffed) Pony from cousin Kevin a couple weeks ago. Since s/he was new, s/he got delegated (by me) to be the safe keeper for Regan. We have had some bad thunderstorms (she can’t stand lightening and thunder runs a very close second), so one night I whispered to PWPony that s/he needed to keep Regan safe. She finally went to sleep, seemed to be working. Last night was completely weird, she woke up around 10:30 calling for me, which I had just stepped outside so hubby went up. I went up to get ready for bed and I was requested to come give a hug. Of course the hug was a deathgrip that I was NOT getting out of. She started to cry, and I just told her to cry it out (hubby wasn’t too sure about what I was doing), I told her when it sounded like she was winding down “That was a WHOLE lot of scared”. So she asked me to hum to her again and I told her that I was just going to hum and close the door and go to sleep. I also had to talk to PWPony again. I heard nothing else.
This morning I go downstairs and Hubby and I are watching the weather and I say “getting her to go to sleep tonight will be fun”, he says “yeah” and he gets up and gives me a hug and says “You are an amazing mother”. Awwww, that was REALLY nice, thanks hubby!!!!!
So any mother’s out there have any suggestions for me on the dark issue?? Let me know, PLEASE, SOON!
