What do you think?
I thought about just letting this go for now? There are some of you that I know that are checking in, then there are the others of you that I’m not sure who you are.
Do you all want me to still update or eh?
Mostly at this point just because school is such a big part of my life that is mostly what I discuss here. I haven’t said much about Regan because she is your typical moody 4 year old girl, (then again, my husband is the typical moody 30+ year old – and yes, there are days they both act the same way). She is having some rougher days in school lately (had another Verbal Warning the other day for not listening to the teacher about little things). Today was picture day, I talked to the teacher and she said that she is just trying to get they prep’d for Kindergarten because obviously the kids won’t have as much leniency there as they tend too in Pre-K.
Hubby is good. Still working (can I get a whoo whoo?!), and still a great person! (Big WHOOT!)
I’m good, let’s see, Chapter 12 “real” test – 100. Chapter 13 – Shampooing chapter – review test, 100 and the same on the Chapter test. Onto Chapter 14, Haircutting – yeah, actually getting to some career learning. I like this Chapter so far as well. There is a TON of information however it is all good – OBVIOUSLY this is all stuff that I will HAVE to know for State Boards so I’m excited about it all.
Oh, I did take pictures recently of some of the hairstyles I have done. I was surprised that my cornrows turned out as well as they did so I just took pictures of everything that I had on my desk. I will hopefully download those tonight – getting them here though will be a little bit longer (maybe Monday when I’m off again!)
Thanks for any input about whether you like the updates or not – BE HONEST!! Let me know if there is something else that you would rather have me discuss.
Love ya all no matter what you tell me!
Later!
Hair…grrrr
Okay, so how many of you know that I do cut hair? (Raise of hands – okay a couple of you). However, I’m not certified. Ack – I know!! The sin of it all.
There is a sign that just went up of Beauty School Registration and seriously it is maybe 3 minutes away from my house (driving). They will be having day AND EVENING classes. See this is HUGE news people (for those that care). I can’t just quit my job and do the Beauty School thing full time for a year give or take. I have to be bringing income in. The income that I bring in now.
I just got up the nerve and called and the lady is EXTREMELY nice on the phone and she said that they would be doing Wed. and Fri. night classes from 5 – 9 for now. Their maybe some Saturday’s added in. Like she said – the quicker you get your hours in (1500 required by VA state certification) the quicker you can get certified. Now one thing that I did notice is that the price has either REALLY jumped for Beauty School OR she is really trying to make $$ off this idea. Now, granted it is really almost worth it to just pay it because she is offering evening classes. Plus I also noticed that she said that we would get 2 maniquin heads (uhm, I think that you usually only get one).
Do you think that I should do the calling-around-finding-out-the-cost-of-the-other-schools? Or do you think that ultimately it would just be worth it to pay (what I THINK) is more that the other schools in the area? I could get very excited about this to be easy on me if you think that I’m totally out of my mind.

UPDATE: I met the owner AND the instructor tonight. They are both super nice. The cost is higher than the local Beauty School that is only open during day hours. HOWEVER, we do get 2 heads and you usually only get one. The heads are not cheap people. The other thing is that since they only have 1 instructor right now they are only offering the 2 nights. They would like for you to come in Saturday (they will even be flexible with that and let you do a half day or something like that). If/When they get another instructor, they will add in Tues. and Thurs. night class too. They said that they wanted to make it fun and possibly go to a hair show in NY or somewhere (how freakin’ cool would that be?), also they are going to really try to make it so that you are comfortable doing whatever it is that you are learning and trying to do on a client. In other words, if you aren’t comfortable they aren’t going to force you to do something on a client. If you need more time in one area before you do your certification testing they will allow that and not charge you the extra hours it might take for you to get comfortable in that area. They said out of the 7 that have come in to talk to them about the school and the 4 they have talked to on the phone, I’m the only one so far with hands on experience. I told them about the old folks home that I help out once a month, they were fine with that and didn’t seem shocked so that felt good. I would still be able to do the hair cuts at the home and do like half day on the Sat. that it lands on.
The only other part that is going to be really hard is trying to figure out a schedule for Regan and where she can be for 2.5 hours until Daddy gets home to put her to bed on those nights. The other issue is – SATURDAYS. David works every Sat unless he has a vacation day. Granted I know that Mother-In-Law would help me out but EVERY Saturday??? Not sure…. I have 7 days to figure out how I can work that into the equation.
Any other ideas?
A Day For Me
Friday evening some ideas were posed to me. I thought about it and decided ‘yeah, I really do need to do something for ME this weekend’. Obviously, yesterday was not a ‘FOR ME’ day. Today however, I do declare!….I had a ME day and REALLY enjoyed it!
I was still up a bit early but, I am okay with that. Stinkerpot and I got up and got started with our day. We chilled until it was time to get coffee, we met Daddy there. He ran an errand and Stinkerpot and I headed home. We got home and I hooked up the Nano and played some more of her music and some of my funner (yes, I know this isn’t a word, do you think that matters to a 3 yo that is having a BLAST dancing with you, uhm NO!) songs: Higher Ground - RHCP (Sorry Hot!); My Doorbell -White Stripes; Pantala Naga Pampa – DMB; Canned Heat – Jamiroquai. Songs that are upbeat that I like and that just sound fun to her (oh, dancing and acting like fools did include tickle/hugging/kissing time – I liked that part myself!). Daddy got home at the end of our crazy song time (we did still listen to a couple more songs and continue to dance like loons). We got the oven started together to bake some Valentine’s cookies. She helped put them on the cookie sheet (yes, she helped eat some already too!). We colored, she ate some lunch, she took a nap (this is when the fun really began FOR ME). I went to my friends house and we karaoked for 2 hours. We ate cake (we are both aquarians), drank Mt. Dew and sang like idiots – because truthfully it is more fun to screw the song up (sing with Elmo stylings). Change all the words that you can so that you can be completely, mindlessly immature and still think that it is hilarious!
Yes, my friend and I just reverted back to 12yo this afternoon
Got home, Stinkerpot had just gotten downstairs (perfect timing), and we proceeded to go to dinner! Very nice night.
Gotta finish up all my Sunday chores now though. But I’m okay with that! I’m almost done – even with laundry!
