Uhm, yeah the last sentence is the one that applies to me right now!!!

Issues…

First of all I would just like to throw this out there..Why is it that people that you never were really friendly with in the first place insist on asking you to add them as a friend on FB??  Seriously, did we EVER REALLY talk before??  So what makes you think that we would talk NOW??  Yeah, we might have mutual friends but WE WEREN’T CLOSE before.  So please….don’t be offended if I don’t accept your request.

Secondly, the high-end salon opportunity probably isn’t going to work out at this time.  It was explained to me that the owner won’t know what she is looking for until around October and I can’t wait that long for work.  So the reasonable priced salon it is for now which is fine, really.  Thank you all for your support and suggestions/advice.  I like seeing what everyone else thinks and what they can say to back up their ideas!!

Thirdly, I will be sending my application into state board at the end of this coming week due to needing specific documentation that will not be readily available until Friday.

Fourthly (is that correct wording), the napless days for Regan are killing me.  So I have decided to make bedtime earlier for the school year!  Yeah me!  and ultimately Regan too as she is miserable and tired and makes things very difficult on me and herself when she is tired!  I will let you all know how it works out!

Hello…I’m a wanna be hairstylist

Yeah, it is getting closer people.  I’m less than 200 hours away from getting my required 1500 hours to go and take my state board exam. 

I have been taking pictures like crazy lately, for me and for everyone else.  Of course there are those days (like Friday) where I finally had the opportunity to do a perm and totally didn’t think about taking pictures because I had a little boy (younger than 2 years old) right before the lady came in.  So you are so hyped about actually not jacking up the little boys hair (his head was on a swivel stick) and not hurting him (shears are just sooooo sharp) that when you get done and realize that the next client is already in the salon, you start to ’sweat’ keeping them waiting.  So you get all your supplies ready and get them in the chair and find out what they are looking for, etc.  So you tend to completely forget that you should have taken a picture of the client before (and one of the bad things about me is that if I don’t take a before, I tend to think, well there is no point in taking an after – I have to get away from that thought tendency as it will still show that I know HOW to do the procedure).

Anyway, just wanted to check in and say hey!  “HEY”!  I’m still living and breathing,  just getting a little harder somedays, the closer I get to finishing school and trying to figure out what I want to do for a job.

Sure I can…..afterall this is my blog!

#1 – A certain someone posted a comment that I didn’t approve. To that certain someone – it was told as a funny story and if you didn’t like it or thought that I was seriously off my rocker for thinking that there aren’t bigger things to worry about in life, then you need to learn how to relax and laugh at life.

#2 – A certain someone posted a comment that I didn’t approve. Seriously people, the one way to really make me dislike humans even more is to be totally DISGUSTING AND ADMIT IT!! Don’t use my blog as your baby “porn” site. You are f’n sick. (and I do know how to laugh……when it is actually funny).

#3 – Ah, something that doesn’t pertain to my blog. So, if things were to work out the way that I was expecting them to work out, I would be completing my 1500 hours of school on August 25th at 3:45 pm. You might ask why I would bring this up (You might also say, ‘hey Ali, you aren’t counting down the time are you?’ – my response, ‘Why yes, YES I AM’). It has now come to light that T (salon owner) will be taking K (the instructor) AND her brother to Atlantic City (for unknown reason/s) on August 22nd. How will this affect me? Well it means that I will not be done with my 1500 hours on August 25th.

The reason that I want to be done by August 25th is because on August 26th my daughter will be attending her 1st day of Kindergarten. I want to be there and not have any other worries or concerns to think about. Plus her birthday is only a short 2 weeks after her 1st day of Kindergarten. I would like to figure out something to do for her for her special 5th birthday. So granted yes, I can still go to school and finish the same week that I was expecting to, it just isn’t the same.

Obviously I have issues today, and just needed to spew. So spew forth whatever you feel needs to be addressed. I give you permission! Just make sure that you feel better after you throw it up all out there. I know that I do.

7 weeks left….

How friggin’ sweet is that??!!!

Less than 260 hours left (and believe me – I’M COUNTING DOWN!!!!!)

Learning about Hair Removal this week, onto Facials next week.  We are going to have to do a Chapter a week now for me to be through the book by the time my hours are up!  Plus I offered to do 1 more chapter on my own (that make 4 chapters that I did on my own).  Bet you can’t tell that I wanna get done,huh?!

Anatomy Chapter

Finally, we are doing the anatomy chapter (however my brain is in “I don’t wanna work” mode).

Review Questions Test today (I think that I finally got it down) and Chapter test tomorrow (there is nothing on the test regarding the Nervous System – hhhmmmmm).

Portfolio Proposal

I should update you all on this topic.  Last time that I said something about this I had only talked to the owner of the salon.  Last week we had our meeting involving all the students to update them on what was happening with the hair and fashion show that the owner wants to put on here in the area.  I was asked to talk about the employment portfolios that I had been asked to create for the students that would be participating in the hair and fashion show.

I showed them the portfolio that I put together for myself so far.  (I need to make changes but it helped me to see what I need to watch, do better and be concerned about with putting these together for the other girls).  I have 7 that are interested in having one done for them!

So I think that is pretty good.  There is one girl that was on vacation that says she is interested in helping with the show so I still need to speak to her but 7 out of 10 isn’t bad at all.

Sweet feeling of success

It is a little early to feel this way, but the owner was okay with my ‘proposal’!!!

Now we just have to see if the students are up for it!

Chapter 3

I know, it doesn’t make much sense, but I started school in Chapter 3 (it was the 1st chapter in the older books, so that is why).

Quiz on Wed. – 100%

Test on Fri. (that included 4 questions that were NOT in my Chapter 3 – that I did go ahead and answer) – 100%

Whoo Hoo – so far so good.  Working on Chapter 4 now, hoping to take a test on Saturday coming.  Chapter 5 is all the Bacterial Diseases (I won’t be eating while I study that chapter), and Chapter 6 is Anatomy (THANK GOD I took Sports Med in High School – I feel like I still remember a lot!).  Can I just tell you all that I have approx. 52 definition words in Ch. 5 and approx. 68 for Ch. 6.  Two big Chapters coming up for sure!!!  Wish me luck!

Beauty School

Day 1: Watched 2 colors and one male haircut. Read over the introduction stuff in the textbook, talked with the instructor about stuff in general and things that we like and don’t like. Ate a banana, had a cup of coffee. Got 4 hours in.

1496 to go!

Actually it was good. It was relaxing and easy. The clients were all very nice. The instructor, K (we will call her), introduced me to each of her clients. It was nice to just kind of bs with her and get a feel for who/how she is. She is very friendly and easy to talk to.

We were supposed to have another girl but she wasn’t there last night (K isn’t sure what is going on). I go back tomorrow night and then Saturday 9-3. I know where we will be starting and if I don’t get run information soon for work (real job), then I might start reading that chapter just to get a feel for what we are beginning with.

Overall, I’m cool so far!!!
