Ali’s Meanderings

Logical? Not so much….

Something funny…

Well, I thought it was funny, I hope that my dad does too.

This morning Regan was up at o’dark thirty (WAY EARLY - if you don’t know the term).  She had asked to have cartoons on which was fine.  I still needed to take a shower and all that.  Once I was back downstairs it was exactly the time for the weather so I asked her if I could watch the weather, she said “yes, but you will put it back on cartoons?!”.  Yes, I will put it right back.

In the mornings we watch Fox 5 and the weather man is Tony Perkins.  Due to the fact that Father’s Day is coming up he was making comments about how AWESOME the weather would be for Father’s Day and he did a little shimmy and said, “that includes me”.  (He was very animated today).

Regan turns to me and says “He looks like Grandpa Gallagher!!”.  I had to laugh, because to an extent she is right.  When Dad has is hair cut short and is wearing his glasses, they do kind of resemble each other.  I hadn’t thought of that.  So here is a pic of Tony Perkins, in case you don’t know who I’m talking about and in case you happen to run into my dad. (tee hee)

Bra vs. No Bra

So it is becoming apparent to me that you all seem to either like the work blogs or the ones where I completely flip out about drivers and things like that.

I have a new work-related story for your reading pleasure.

About a year and a half ago, we had to have our annual meeting and all that fun jazz about work environment, blah, blah, blah.  The one thing that seemed to grab EVERYONE’S attention was the new dress code policy that had been incorporated into our company handbook.  How bad is it when your company has to include the following statement in their handbook?:

“UNDERGARMENTS SHOULD ALWAYS BE WORN”

WTF?, you say.  Yes well, it is a manufacturing facility, we do have office staff, and we practically work in the foothills of WV (that is a funny for all the other people who don’t live in WV and make fun of the state).

Back Story:  There was a lady in the plant that was working with no bra on one night.  Unfortunately for her, the men were NOT happy about it.  It was summer and I think that she might have been wearing a tank top or something and the guys were extremely scared that the “puppies” were going to make a grand appearance.  Therefore the change to the dress code statement.

Current story:  There is a new lady working here and she has an office job.  She is absolutely tiny in body, but it appears that she might have had some “puppy” work done a while ago.  (If it was recent it is a REALLY bad “puppy” job”).  Aaannnyyywwwwaaaaayyyy, she usually seems to have her stuff together and will wear a casual suit and is really covered up.  I do have to give her props she doesn’t dress cheaply, if you know what I mean.  One day she wore something along the lines of a baseball shirt (you know, the colored 3/4 sleeves and a different color on the torso - we do have dress-down Fridays), however either the shirt felt really good or she was REALLY cold.  Okay, let me just qualify that whole statement with: This wasn’t something that I noticed right off the bat, it was brought to my “attention” by other people.  Now there have been a couple more times where things that, professionally speaking, were noticeable that really shouldn’t have been.

I finally went to someone that used to work in HR and just said “Look, whatever floats her boobs boat, however there is a lot of things being said and technically according to the handbook, blah, blah, blah”.

Basically the big debate is: Is she in fact wearing a bra that lends absolutely NO support or coverage for that matter, or is she just not wearing one.  One suggestion has been that she is wearing maybe more of a camisole (no support, check; no nip coverage, check, check).

Don’t get me wrong, there is a time and place for no bra, but in a place of business with 30 + horn dogsguys out in a manufacturing plant??  Uhm, I won’t be doing that anytime soon.  I can wait until I get home to let everything breath.

List of Stuff

I have a ton of crap to do, maybe this will help (maybe it will hurt), we shall see.

  • Call hotel and make sure I still have reservation and check if I mentioned early check-in.
  • Leave car at Exxon tomorrow for an Oil Change
  • Remember that we do have Little Gym tomorrow night.
  • Remember to cut someone’s hair Thursday night.
  • Decide if I’m leaving work early on Friday to start my traveling for this weekend.
  • Get packed for the trip this weekend.
  • Oh, been meaning to post a video of Regan in dance class.

My cousin is getting married in New Jersey this weekend and I’m looking forward to the road trip really.  However, my week feels like it is starting to swallow me up already.  DH (Dear Hubby) had a brilliant 2-watt lightbulb moment yesterday though and suggested that I take the Dora “bed” (really a foam couch that folds out into a mat) with me for Regan.  Ahhhhh, that sounds more my speed.  That way I’m not sharing the couch or whatever floor space with her.  She will be staying with my step-mom in MD this weekend.  I was going to take her with me but the wedding and reception are late so….I got selfish and asked Step-mom if she wanted to chill with Regan (Step-mom was staying home anyway, even though my dad is going to the wedding).   Since they live in MD they really don’t get to see Regan much and Step-mom is really looking forward to having some quality time with Regan.

Anyway, must get on with my week.

Blue Canoe can you?

So I told you all that I would have to go back into work this morning.  What a crock of _ _ _ _!!!  (I bet you can guess what that said).  The program that I needed to use to print out the 3 jobs that I had to get done, yeah THAT program went down last night at 10PM!!  So we worked a way around getting tags printed and by then I had wasted about 2.5 hours there so of course then the damn program comes back up.  I had to race home to get the car set up to take a trip down south (just a 30 minute ride).  Regan told me this morning that she wanted to go to Grandma’s (2) this afternoon so… that is where she is right now while I work at my step dad’s store (Blue Canoe Crew, which explains the title to today’s post).

I picked her up around 1:20 and she was laying down on grandma’s (1) bed and said that she was tired.  WTF??  The one day that I’m gonna LET her stay up and she WANTS to nap (okay, what did you all do to my child??!  The one that is NEVER tired).

I just called over to grandma’s (2) and they are watching Charlotte’s Web (non-animated) and coloring!  Sounds like fun.

In the meantime I just had a customer come back for his stuff that he couldn’t pay for before and I think I’m gonna read for a bit.  Close down - go get Regan - stop by Daddy’s work - go home.  Fix Regan something - maybe she will pass out.  Then I get to work somemore - Whoo Hoo!!!  How in the world did my day get so stinkin’ busy all the sudden?

Health Update

Surprise Surprise, my MRI came back fine.  No problems.  As I stated before it was basically just to check it off the list as no other problem.  I finally got the work order to do the blood work this morning.  They were supposed to give it to me at my visit when we set up the MRI but it got missed or something.

Of course, I get out of the results appt by 8:30 and I think, I can go do the blood now and just get it out of the way - Geez, what a freaking joke.

I must have had a mental issue they didn’t find, because I didn’t think about it being Monday and everyone and their brother was going to be doing this kind of thing.  Plus of course the hospital computers were a bit tempermental this morning as well.  I went to one lab and all the seats were taken so I then went into the main hospital and still sat for practically another hour for 5 minutes of draining blood.

But it is over and taken care of and the doc will just call me with results from the blood work instead of me having to go back in for another appt.

Chocolate and Regan

Last night was Little Gym, for those that don’t know, this is a place that young kids get  to play on gymnastic apparatus and learn proper ways to land and general safety in a gymnasium.  Regan loves it!  Our usual routine is to have LG and then have dinner at McDonald’s (why not, she has burned energy and calories at LG!).  Sometimes I will get ‘dessert’ (cookies) and sometimes I don’t, but she will always ask.

Last night, I got cookies.  Has anyone else tried McDonald’s cookies?  The chocolate chips are very soft, therefore in little hands, they melt and get ALL over the place.  We clean up the best that we can just to get home then wash up after brushing our teeth (Regan’s that is).

On the way home, David and I are laughing about how Regan was covered in chocolate.

Then it happened, yep you guessed it, a David-ism was uttered.

He says “She’s a Regan-ette!” (Raisinette)  Ugh you may say, but it was funny.  Of course that just started a whole new roll of David-isms on Daddy’s nuts and Mommy’s mounds, but we will just end that here.
