Nineteen Minutes…
Not sure if I think about you all the time because I just read this book. But I think about you all the time while you are at school. I wonder what you are doing, I wonder what you are learning. I wonder if you are getting all your lunch ate. Are you making new friends, are you nice to your classmates. I wonder if everyone is nice to you and how you deal with it if they aren’t.
I want to hug you and love on you while you are away. Not that I don’t want to do that when we are together, but our moods sometimes distract me from just wanting to “gobble” you up.
Have a great day today and ….. everyday. I think about you a lot!!! I miss you….A LOT!!!! And I will always love you with my whole heart!
Next on the ‘list’
Crime and Punishment.
Jonathan, if this one is as dark as Lady Chatterley’s Lover, I just might give up this quest.
Lady Chatterley’s Lover
Well, I read Lady Chatterley’s Lover by D.H. Lawrence. It was an interesting read, however there was a point that I felt dark because of the negativity (times being what they were or as D.H. Lawrence was describing them). All the talk of money was a bit depressing to me (maybe it is due to me feeling the stress of financial issues myself right now). I understand the class issue, so that didn’t affect me positively or negatively. This book was amazing in the sense of when it was written and what was included in the writing. But again, it kind of depressed me, but the end was enough to get me focused back on Connie and Mellors.
I did read the Preface, Introduction and Propos. I liked the insightfulness of the Preface and Introduction (by other people). The Propos was VERY interesting especially from D.H. Lawrence which also added validity to the Introduction.
Anyway, it was good, a bit dark, but very ‘ahead of it’s time’.
Next on the List, not sure exactly – I need to see what is at the library
But I will definitely inform you of what I’m reading next.
New Goal….
Okay, if you don’t know me then you don’t know that I really like to read. I read a ton. However, I mostly read for fun and to pass the time. I don’t typically read for a purpose (if that makes sense). I read to be entertained and to kind of ‘mind-melt’ that way I don’t have to constantly be in reality (I deal with reality fine enough, but I need a break sometimes).
So…for some reason the name Don Quixote jumped into my head the other day. I have been at least 4 days now without a book in hand (sometimes this is a bad thing – I get restless). Finally had a chance today to hit the library. I went back to the fiction section and I did find a couple books but nothing was really JUMPING out to me. I went up to the desk area and looked at what they had in new…..nothing jumping still. I ended up heading to the Young Adult section – why you ask? Well, let’s see I haven’t read any of the Harry Potter’s yet but I have seen the movies. I figure it will still entertain me. However, I happen to see a section of classics and what was the first book that my eyes laid on?? Don Quixote!!! haha
So…I have a goal but I think that I might need your help. I looked through what they had (and I really did think about getting Don Quixote) and ended up with Lady Chatterley’s Lover. This is where you come in and help me. I know that I did read things like Catcher In The Rye and Of Mice And Men in high school – however it might be a good thing for me to go back and read those too. But what I really want your help with is telling me what books you think are classics and would recommend that I should read. I like not thinking while reading but you know what…..It would be nice to have a reading goal.
Can you help a girl out?? I will make it more fun by adding posts about the books that I do get to. (Does this remind you of the summer reading that your kids have to do??)
