OMG - We all made it…
Through the first day of Pre-school!!! I didn’t get any calls. Regan had a BLAST! She wanted to go back this morning. And I finally slept last night, however I still didn’t want to get up.
Regan gets a “Sunshine” report everyday. It lets the parents know how their kids did that day in school. She did an amazing job coloring yesterday, she slept for 2 hours, she had one accident and you will never guess when it was! Nope, not naptime! They used the potty before they went outside and Regan didn’t have anything come out. However they were outside for about 45 minutes and when they got ready to line up Regan kind of looked at Miss Becky and said “I had a little accident”, Miss Becky told her that it was fine and to never be afraid to let anyone know that she has to use the potty, someone will bring her in and let her use it. Miss Becky (I know that you all are smart enough to be figuring out that this is her teacher, along with Miss Mary - they have 15 kids in the classroom), said that she didn’t get the message that Regan had pull-ups and so she didn’t put her in one. She said that if I didn’t want her to use it that she wouldn’t or however I wanted to handle it. I told her that I brought them because I didn’t want them to have to clean her up everytime - so we will just see how the week goes, ya know.
Regan got a lollipop for her good day. I was also told that I could bring in a treat snack as they do allow that. I forgot today however, she does have those apple crisp thingies in her bag - maybe I should call and let them know that!
Anyway, I’m REALLY relieved and pleased that Regan had such a good first day and that she is still excited about it.
First Day of (Pre) School
Well the time has come. Regan is going to Preschool and let me just say that the excitement is still there (good). I’m hoping that I have everything together that she might need.
I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday and I was telling her how I really hope that no one makes a big deal out of her birthmark. For those that have known Regan for a while you probably don’t even realize it is there any longer, however it really is still there. For those that have always wondered what that raspberry patch is right above her lip, that is one of her birthmarks.
My friend had a good idea to bring up all her little things and see what she said about them. I didn’t even have to go that far. Last night after reading and singing, we talked and I held out my right arm and asked her “What is this?”, she got a smile of her face and said “It’s your birthmark”, and I said “yeah”, I asked her, “Do you have any birthmarks?” and she said “Yes, one right here (pointing to the one on her hip) and then pointed to her lip”, I said “That is right!” At this point I’m just going to leave it at that, I don’t want to bring up the topic of how other people might see it until I have too. I might mention it to whoever is there this morning just to see if any kids say anything about it. We will see.
So I’m going to take a pic or 200 this morning to share with you all how excited she is! I hope your children have a great “first” day, whenever that may come for you!
Time
Where does time go? 4 short years ago I was 8 months pregnant. Now someone short, is running around my house very excited to start Pre-school. The seasons have come and gone even quicker. However winter seems to still linger on for me until I’m ready to scream and then FINALLY Spring will bloom. Fall comes quicker, and I didn’t think that it could get here any sooner than it did when I was a kid.
I guess the real reason that I’m writing this is because while I know that Regan will do fine in school (don’t get me wrong we all have our weaknesses and strengths and I don’t presume to think that she won’t get in trouble), I just hope that the first day lives up to all her excitement. I can’t wait to pick her up next Monday and see how she looks.
SBD Day 15?
Weigh-In day
Down: 8.4lbs. Not bad for Phase 1 and actually pretty typical. I think it is said that you can lose anywhere from 8 - 14lbs in the 1st 2 weeks. I could be wrong.
Anyway, I can’t tell you how excited I am that we are on Phase 2. This morning I get to eat my cereal bars again - don’t get me wrong the Egg Muffins were good too and we still have some left that we will be finishing, however there is something to be said for something that at least tastes sweet again.
Anyway, I’m gonna stuff my face with cereal bar and some coffee - I didn’t have any at home this morning so I get my 2 cups here - Whoo Hoo - watch out world, I might actually end up in a good mood today!
Orange Slices
Do any of you remember these or still eat these today?

Well Regan loves these right now and she only gets them when she is at Grandma’s. However last weekend I told her that I would tell her a story about them, so I figure I will share it will you all since she liked it so much she asked me to tell it to her again.
When I was 9 years old (no comment allowed regarding my age today, visitation still hasn’t left yet), my step-dad was my summer league swim coach. He made up a game to do sprints. The name of the game was “Pigeon” (weird I know, but you don’t know him so….lol - just kidding “Coach”). We played this game in the deep end of the pool and we had to dive in and swim across as fast as we could. Then you had to climb out as fast as you could too. If you were the last one to touch the other side, you were out. However the tricky part was knowing when to dive in. “Coach” would say something, anything, fast, slow, or jumble everything together, to get you to dive in too soon, then he got smart and started using words that almost rhymed with Pigeon, the killer word was “Midget” and that was not meant in a disrespecful way, however, YOU say them out loud, to 30 + noisy kids and see how similar they sound. So if you dove in too soon you were out as well. It was the best game and I played it with my swimmers when I finally coached.
Anyway, the point of the story (I swear, I’m getting to it), is that for whoever won the game, they would get an orange slice. Of course there were the times that he would just throw them in the water anyway (yum, chlorine, sugar - breakfast of champions!)
So that is my Orange Slice story. Now go out and get some oranges slices and enjoy them with your kids. (Honestly, I don’t think I have had them since then)
SBD Day 10
Here is the deal for the next couple of days…..I will not be weighing myself. Most importantly because of “visitation” rights and I think they are coming sooner than I though so….. instead of driving myself and you all crazy, I have decided to just wait and do the 2nd week weigh-in on Wednesday (8/20) when I am supposed to. Weight loss might not really show on the scale anyway, even by then due to timing of the said visitation. Once visitation is over, we can be more accurate again!
In the meantime, if anyone wants to bring up a topic of interest, please let me know.
Have a great weekend!!!!
SBD Day 9
Sorry peeps, busy day today (well, if you go by wordpress time it is actually yesterday). ANYWAY, loss today was .6 lbs. Not shabby. Wed. I did feel like I needed something extra and I got a Sprite Zero. However I only had about 5 sips from it. We had a Salmon dinner that was the BOMB the other night. If you don’t mind green and yellow peppers and love salmon, you will love the recipe. Let me know if you are interested!!!
Today was pretty good, just like I said though I felt like I was pretty much on the run but I did eat my snacks and lunch at the “right” times so all is good there. Tonight I had 2 hamburger patties - yum! And I got to finally taste the neighbors cucumbers, not too bad!!
Tonight is a night where it is just me and Regan and she tried to eek out everything that she could, but it didn’t work. She still got Time Out after we got upstairs. But it gave me time to change clothes and put in her laundry (oh, she also had a potty accident tonight, first one she has really had here at the house, where it ALL just let go). She looked like she was gonna get upset and I just kept repeating to her, Regan, it is OKAY!!, it isn’t a big deal. She told me that Cille doesn’t like accidents (well I imagine if I were 70 +, I wouldn’t like having to deal with them either). But really I was fine with it.
Tomorrow may be a bit busy too, if it is, I won’t have the opportunity to post at night like I am doing now, so bear with me and I will hopefully see you on Saturday for updates on weight loss and whatever else has happened.
And the stars aligned
Seriously people, what I have to share here is told in a whispered voice in case I EVER have to do this again. (Actually 2 things to share and the 2nd one is the one that is whispered!)
First, Regan didn’t nap Sunday afternoon (Shocker, I know). She did nap well Monday back with Cille. Yesterday with Cille - uhm, no. So last night she said I was reading and singing to her. She wanted to lay on me, I told her for reading that was fine, but she would need to lay next to me for songs. She wasn’t happy, HOWEVER we worked it out! So song time comes and I can just tell that she is exhausted. 3 Christmas songs later and a little talk, then onto humming lullaby. I was also tired so for songs I had my eyes closed and sometimes this works in my favor. Last night was one of those nights. She passed out by the end of lullaby (I hum it twice) right before 8pm. WHOO HOO!!! Now the fun part was getting untangled from the vise like grip around my neck and then that same hand cornering my hand, between her body and her arm, but I made it and she slept ON.HER.DORA.BED.ALL.NIGHT! Since I knew she was out, I got to actually close her door last night too! ALL THE WAY - no cracks.
Come closer, I really can’t just blurt this out. Secondly for the night, I realized at about 9pm that her nightlight is NOT ON! ACCCKKKKK (Oh, shhhhhhhhhh, remember stay quiet!). If the child wakes up in pitch dark she will freak, absolutely. So, I get a new bulb, I go upstairs, I set the lighting in the hallway so that it isn’t bright as mid afternoon. I sllllllooooooowwwwwwwwwllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, turn the knob on her door, I pray that it won’t stick, it doesn’t do too bad. I tiptoe across the floor, kneel down in front of the nightlight (creak, crack, go the knees), I slowly pull the nightlight out of the outlet. I slide the cover off the unit, I unscrew the lightbulb and replace with new one. I get the whole thing back together and stick it in the outlet………NOTHING. (ssshhhhh, crap). So I get smart and I put the old bulb back in, and I tiptoe out of her room, into the bathroom, pull out that nightlight, plug in her nightlight and NOTHING, I try the new bulb too, NOTHING. Well at least I know it is the plug-in part that is bad. So I used the bathroom nightlight in her room, NEVER (shhhh) woke her up and made it back out of the room safe and sound and she was never the wiser!!!!! I’m sorry, but she is a VERY light sleeper so that was AMAZING!

I’m a 30-something mother of 1. I have lots of thoughts when it comes to my daughter and life. So I thought I would start a blog - just to have somewhere to put my ideas and thoughts.
