Dentist visit
Regan’s very first!!! (So there are still a couple first’s left out there)
Regan had her very first dentist appt this morning and she was DA’ BOMB!!!
Mommy had x-rays out the freaking WAZOO!! The roof of my mouth was just about killing me. And let me just add here that I do not under any circumstances HATE going to the dentist. I would much rather visit the dentist than the OBGYN, I think it has something to do with dress code comfortability (is that a word?). I don’t have to act like I’m not at the dentist and think of the doc being naked too or anything really weird like that. Anyway, back to the story: The doc comes in - does some weird gum test on me that I ace, says that everything looks really good and wants to know if I want to get my teeth cleaned now since the dental hygenist had a cancellation - “Sure” I say, “Let’s get as much done as possible”. So I got my gums checked out more thoroughly (my issue with the gum thing is that my old dentist NEVER did any kind of tests on my gums so it was a new experience for me - anyone else done the gum tests?), got a cavity found (that was almost filled today too - talk about SERVICE!), got cleaned teeth, got complimented on my VERY good teeth genes and then it was Miss Regan’s turn. She sat very nicely in a chair in the corner while Mommy had all this other stuff going on!
Regan got up in Miss Nancy’s (dental hygenist) chair, wiggled around enough that Dr. Davis mentioned that she was a wiggle butt. I heard him so I just told her that once Miss Nancy was ready she needed to sit really still. They talked about doing x-rays on her but Miss Nancy wanted Regan to get more used to her so the Oct visit will include x-rays for her I believe. Regan got to hold the “sucker” (vacuum that sucks all the saliva out of your mouth so that you think you drank a whole vat of beer before getting there!). She also got to help paint her teeth with “grape jelly” (a flouride treatment just to help harden the enamel and protect from other stains and things of that nature). And she got her teeth cleaned as well like a REALLY BIG GIRL!!!
She got 2 toys for being there for soooo long (my appt was at 10 and her’s was at 11), she got a new toothbrush, and Crest for kids toothpaste (with sparkles). They really seemed to enjoy having her today and she seemed to really take to them and the whole idea of the dentist so……
We kind of had a big day today!
Pre-School
The thing is this…..I’m torn. Granted I would like for Regan to experience the regimen and schedule of what Kindergarten would most likely be like. However I know that Regan is fairly bright and that she really does learn pretty quickly.
Regan on the other hand doesn’t seem to have any issues at all with going to school. NOW!, I have to say at the same time, I don’t think that she realizes that she will not be seeing ‘Cille and the other kids either if she goes to school.
We “checked” out the Pre-K class this morning (technically it was more like we would like to take your money hold your spot, and send you on your way, but we don’t have any time for questions. Seriously this was the way I felt, HOWEVER, I will say at this point I think that if I go back at a later time in the day after 8:30am (seriously - WTF? I wish I had that schedule if I was a teacher) and ALL the teachers are there and the “director”, I might have better luck at a tour and Q/A session. So, I’m not bagging this school yet.
A spot is saved at this point and maybe once I fill out the paperwork and take it back - it will be later in the day and I can talk to someone a bit more helpful.
But the big news is that Regan “Wants to go to school!!” (and she is very emphatic about this statement).
About
I’m a 30-something mother of 1. I have lots of thoughts when it comes to my daughter and life. So I thought I would start a blog - just to have somewhere to put my ideas and thoughts.
