Day 24 - Short and Sweet of it.
Honestly I thought about skipping today and I thought (quite a few times), no, you really need to just stick with it. You have only missed one day so…… Do It!
My MIL wasn’t able to keep Regan all night last night which was fine. Regan was in a great mood this morning and I had plans to take her with me running errands today, but MIL called and asked if Regan wanted to stay with her while I ran errands. So…..grandma’s won over errands today. So I picked up David and we ran errands this morning. I got Regan from MIL’s, David came over to play with Regan and I got to grocery shop today as well! So all the fun stuff is out of the way for the weekend AND I have another whole day to play!!! Whoo Hoo!!
I was very excited today when I realized I wasn’t exhausted AND I still have another day for the weekend. One more craft show and that is it for me this year.
So now I have done my NaBloPoMo obligation for the day. I have updated you all and I’m now going to retire for the evening! Sleep well.
Day 23 - Not much to say
I know amazing!!!
Back at work today. I am fine with being here today too. It is quiet, I am able to get some stuff done without interruption. I am able to rock out a bit. Plus this way my brain doesn’t turn to mush like it typically does if I’m gone for any significant amount of time.
I get the whole weekend off too. No Craft Shows - Whoo Hoo.
Have a wonderful long weekend for those of you that had today off. I will talk to you all tomorrow sometime.
ps: I get to pick up my x-mas cards tomorrow! Very exciting stuff!
Day 22 - Thankful for…..
1) Having a home to protect me and my daughter from the elements. 2) Having very sore muscles from having the ability to clean my home. 3) Having family to share the day and season with. 4) Having friends who know who you are and respecting you even if they have a different view on something. 5) Having love in my heart no matter what happens and being able to accept life for what it is and what I have made of it.
Obviously this list could go on and on (and really probably should). I don’t know that I think about some of this stuff often enough. However today while cooking (which is NOT a forte of mine), I realized that I am thankful that I have a brain to be able to get through cooking a relatively big meal for my family. I’m also thankful that my husband was willing enough to help me and be patient with me when the hens weren’t quite ready when I thought they were. But he enjoyed the meal and he knows that it was a big deal for me and I think that he is thankful that I did try!
Oh and the Maple Pumpkin Cheesecake, I highly recommend it for anytime of year but it sure works if you don’t have a pumpkin pie and you are having a craving for pumpkin! My MIL loved hers (last night!) and David and I just about split a pie ourselves! Yum.
Day 21 - Cleaning is for…..
I would say ‘the birds’ but they probably wouldn’t like the correlation since they really like water/rain, okay whatever that saying is.
So, since my 6:30 wake up call this morning (just the stinkin’ alarm, seriously, you think I have wake up call here to this house??! Don’t think so!)
1) Battled with Miss Thang over clothes, did get her dressed (I won with a certain pair of pants today), got her to Cille’s “On Time” (if you don’t know already, today is a day off work for me so I chose - ‘Did I really DECIDE to do this?!’ - to clean the house today). 2) Got back - got my checkbook straightened out. 3) Put Regan’s dirty clothes in the wash/turned on the drier to “fluff” my whites. 4) Went through Regan’s toys and bagged up the stuff that she really doesn’t need anymore AND ALL THE STINKIN’ MCDONALD’S TOYS. 5) Took her toys, too small clothes and my I-will-never-wear-clothes to Salvation Army 6) Straightened up the living room - moved a couple things around (no not big furniture, just where some of her toys are and the ottoman). 7) Finally emptied out the dishwasher and filled it up again (nice reminder - #8) turn on dishwasher now….pardon the interruption). 9) Easy-Off’ed the oven. (thought that might be important with cooking stuff tomorrow) 10)Made the Maple Pumpkin Cheesecakes (yes, plural - the recipe makes 3 friggin’ pies) - and I have 24 minutes left on the clock for those (smells heavenly too!) 11) Got the whites folded and I did actually fold all Regan’s clothes too and put them away 12) Finally got a shower today (Yeah, if you smelled that, it was me!).
All that is left at this point is the switching of summer and winter clothes in my closet and getting the dining room table cleaned off. Sitting here typing this blog is making me realize how sore I’m going to be tomorrow. I know that I need to push through because we also have Little Gym tonight and I know I will probably pass out during the class (New Ad for LG-”not only does it make the kids sleep good, look at the parents during class time” - Pan to me passed out on the Big Red Mat - drooling!).
Well off I go to clean off the dining room table for 20 minutes (please don’t take that long). Then up the stairs I guess. I will let you know if I make it til 8:30pm tonight!
Pepe LePew
Last night on the way home from Cille’s, Regan says “See the smoke?”, I reply, “Where, oh, yes I see the smoke”. “What is that mommy”? “It is Hood and they have steam coming out of the stacks (Really pollution but I work in a pollution whore and I’m not about to get into that discussion with a 3 year old at this point)”. “It smells mommy”. “Yes, you are right, sometimes it is very smelly and other times you can’t smell it at all”. “Yeah, sometimes it is stinky, Like Pepe LePew”!!
If she wasn’t buckled in her carseat I think that she would have been rolling around on the floor of the car laughing.
I did find out from her that Ronnie (Cille’s husband) says “Stinky, like Pepe LePew”. So while it wasn’t “original” it was funny to hear her refer to him in that way.
ps: Another poop on the potty yesterday at Cille’s.
Day 20 - I DID IT!!!!
I actually lived up to my plan - AMAZING!!!
I got Regan down last night (after MAJOR meltdown mode) and moved all the chairs from the dining room to the kitchen. Got the toys picked up, moved the computer chair, and other misc. items (my cello for one) into the kitchen as well. I got the carpet shampooed and cleaned up to the best of my ability at this point, did the other half that I didn’t do Sunday night and ran over a couple spots that I wanted to again.
Of course that was the easy part. The hard part of the story comes now….
The CATS!!! Can you say ANNOYING last night??!!! So I get them corralled up the stairs and I think that they will just stay there with all the noise going on, uhm not so. Pita comes down and for some reason just has to be right in the thick of things and I don’t want them downstairs at this point. So between chasing her, stepping on her a couple times, and trying to grab for her at one point, I completely bent back my ring and pinky fingernails (I’m NOT a sissy about my nails) BUT!, I bent them back in the bed of my nail. Yeah, ouch doesn’t totally describe the feeling - especially the initial slamming of my nails into the floor as I miss the cat. Good news, only my ring finger bled. I did cut all my nails back at that point so that I wouldn’t have any snaggers and I have a band aid on my ring finger so that it doesn’t snag anything (because that is going to really hurt!)
I went ahead and vacuumed this morning so that I could get all the “stuff” out of the kitchen and back where it belonged.
Oh, and Pita and I did make up.
AAAAAACCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKK
How did yesterday slip past me?? Holy Cow and I was doing so well for NaBloPoMo - Crap, now I feel bad.
Sorry all, that was not my intent at all.
Yesterday, woke up, got ready to get coffee out with the gang, went to Staples, went grocery shopping. Regan wanted to get the grocery shopping out of the way yesterday morning (thank you my child). We got home, ate lunch, she took a nap and I almost did. I got her up and going for the evening. We played around, ate dinner and then it was bath time. Got her to bed ON-TIME!!! amazing! I came downstairs and my MIL had called. I called her while I picked up the living room so that I could vacuum, and shampoo the carpet (well 1/2 of it so that I could still walk around with out wet feet). After I got off the phone with her David called.
Finally got to the vacuuming, then the fun part came. I have never used our carpet cleaner before so….that was kind of cool. Of course there was many benefits to starting that last night.
1) I turned on the CD player and rocked out. 2) I’m hoping to make Wednesday (my day “extra” day off this week - ssssshhhh Don’t say anything to Regan) less stressful and more fun for me. 3) Plus, if I do it at night - Regan is in bed and I don’t have to worry about her running over the wet carpet either. 4) It gives the floor a chance to dry!
So, tonight will be vacuum the floor that was already cleaned and see how it looks and then shampoo the rest of the floor tonight. That is the plan, I didn’t say it would all get done but it would relieve some stress.
So, forgive me for missing yesterday. I guess I will just look at it for what it is, and that is I’m doing my best and I am having a GREAT time posting everyday.
Day (uhhhhh) 17 - Random
Had our 3rd Craft show today. MIL ROCKED! I did sell 2 scarves.
I’m dead dog tired and unfortunately I can’t wait to put Regan down so that I can CRASH AND BURN! I’m doing absolutely nothing tonight!
I need to attend to Miss Thang for now but I did want to post for the day.
It’s An Official 1st!!!!!
I’m VERY proud to announce………. (drum roll please)
REGAN POOPED ON THE POTTY TODAY FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME!!!!!!!!!
(hopefully of many more times to come….soon!)
Lucille told Regan that she would be missing out on alot of playtime today. Regan didn’t seem to mind (from what I am told), she just sang to herself alot today, while in the bathroom! Lucille told her to go to use the potty before lunch. Nothing happened. All the kids ate lunch, then Lucille told Regan about 10 minutes after lunch that she needed to go use the potty again. Lucille says after a little bit she heard “Cille, I poopied in the potty!!” Lucille said to Regan, “Well I have to see this”, and sure enough, Regan did in fact use the potty for the very first time.
My child has been sitting on the potty now for a while and of course the running joke for me is that she will be 14 and in diapers or pull-ups.
I think that Regan is finally ready to prove me wrong! (I just wish I could have been there to be really gross and have coverage of it - don’t worry, I would spare you all the details! But I would have it!)
Day 16 - (No idea what to title this…)
Something that I brought up with my online friends is that I will be taking off work next Wednesday to clean my house (my favorite thing in the whole wide world - it isn’t, but positive reinforcement seems to work for me lately).
This is the thing, most of the people already take off Black Friday so……why bother? Someone has to be at work for problems and to reprint out a job 3 or 4 times! (Exaggerating here!!) But seriously, I had off Black Friday for a couple years and it was cool and I did the whole shopping bit but seriously, I’m not that big into shopping (unless it is for someone else) and then trying to figure it all out b/c I don’t write lists regarding x-mas presents and who is going to get what. So of course that means that some years I remember something that I saw or heard pertaining to a particular person and they get a really good gift that makes sense, and then there are the other years that you are just guessing and for some reason a BIC (flame thrower) multi-use lighter and a tea light candle (is that really even considered a candle?) are given (no, I’m not that bad - but you get my drift).
Back to the topic (obviously I don’t have one today), November has been a REALLY busy month with the craft shows on Saturdays, I just don’t have the ‘umph’ on Sundays to really do anything about the house, plus there is the Regan entertainment for Sundays so, if you need to reach me on Wednesday, you know where I will be!
About
I’m a 30-something mother of 1. I have lots of thoughts when it comes to my daughter and life. So I thought I would start a blog - just to have somewhere to put my ideas and thoughts.
