Ali’s Meanderings

Logical? Not so much….

Trick Or Treating

Kind of a bust really.  She was excited that her Best Friend Ellie was coming but once we started out (just went to Mother-In-Laws first), she got very quiet and didn’t seem all that interested in participating.  Mom’s friend, Linda, wanted us to stop by and we did.  Regan is ALWAYS quiet around Linda though.  Came back home to walk around the neighborhood and it is more like carrying a 35lb bag of candy instead.  Yes, we had to carry her.  I think we made it to 3 houses that way and I said forget it and brought her back home.

Ellie made a killing and was AWESOME at saying Trick or Treat and getting her candy.  Sam and Ellie had to go off by themselves for a while.

Then Regan decided that she wanted to help hand out candy.  Of course that led back to wanting to walk around to the houses again.  I told her that she could hold my hand and I wasn’t going to carry her!  So we made it to 5 houses total and Regan decided that she wanted to go back home.

Oh well, Halloween isn’t for everyone, right?!

Happy Halloween

Of course it feels lame to use that as a post but hey, I’m not all the way together today.

Regan got upset last night because I told her that it was Halloween tomorrow and she started crying after I walked out of her room.  Since I was standing there I went back in to find out what the problem was.  “I’m scared of the dark” she said.  I told her that she has never been scared of her bedroom and that she has a nightlight.

SNAP!

The 2 watt lightbulb went off and I realized what she was talking about.  I ask her “Did it scare you when I brought up Halloween?”  She nods her head.  I tell her that we will Trick or Treat during the light and that her Best Friend Ellie is coming to Trick or Treat with her.  She seemed okay with that aspect.  I hope that it all works out!

Remember the National Blog Posting Month Challenge for November coming up. Kelly has gotten into the spirit of the challenge and will be joining in the fun. Thank you Em for drawing it to our attention!

Challenge….Sure, why not

So I am accepting ‘The Craig’ challenge.   Why?  Because she said so.  And because she told me that I wanted to do it.  (Note to parents:  You always asked if I was going to walk off a cliff because my friends did it, see where I have gotten on this question?)

Anyway, I will accept the challenge and try my hardest as the weekends seem to be my down fall.  I don’t know that I will do poems, but I might try and actually finish a song that I have wanted to write since Regan was born.

I only have one line of it but I will start sharing that on the 1st of November.  Not today.

Grandma & Grandpa Gallagher’s

Trying this again: Pic of Grandma and Regan eating breakfast.

grandma__regan.jpeg

We stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Gallagher Friday night.  We had plans to go to the Baltimore Zoo with friends Saturday and it gave us an excuse to visit them and be closer to the Zoo on Saturday morning.

Due to ALL the rain that we have had, the plans for the Zoo didn’t work out but that is another post all together.  Friday evening, I completely blanked out on taking pics of Regan with Grandma and Grandpa but I did get a few in Saturday morning.  Grandpa left to workout with “The Boy” (my brother), so unfortunately he was not present for picture time.

Regan and Aubrey

Okay, this is how 2 - 3 year olds make themselves crash hard!

They were also elephants.  Aubrey had the sound down pat and Regan had the action down pat!

You can also see what else the girls got into on The Craigs site!

The Eyes…

Regan’s eye already looks so much better.  We had issues (let me re-phrase, David had issues) getting drops in her eyes Friday.  She cried and he couldn’t do them, he finally explained to her that if we don’t do the drops then we can’t do all the fun things that we are going to do this weekend. (Post coming soon: Grandma & Grandpa Gallagher; Zoo Boo alternative)

So smart person that she is, she asked if she could have the drops put in AFTER she saw the animals at the zoo.  Uhm,….when did the negotiating start?  He did explain to her that he couldn’t do that and she finally let him put drops in her eyes.

Yes, we have to put drops in BOTH eyes so that the “yuck” doesn’t transfer straight to the other eye.

Friday afternoon I left work early so that we could get on the road and I did the drops then.  Yes, she cried but I gave her 2 m&m’s for being good about letting me get the drops in/around/on her eyelids (I just let her keep her eyes close when I drop them then I ask her to open her eyes, she tells she doesn’t want to but we are finding sneaky ways of getting it done).

As of tonight, she isn’t even crying when she knows that it is eyedrop time.

Do you think the m&m bribe worked?  Yes, I gave her 2 more tonight!

Fever

UPDATE:  Regan has Pink Eye.  Are you kidding me??!!  However the doc said that it is possible for the “stuff” in pink eye to drain therefore making Regan’s body try and fight it off (therefore the fever).

 __________________________________________________________

Yes, my poor girl has a fever.  Of course that doesn’t stop her from pretty much being into everything still.  (Sometimes I think that it makes it worse).

Daddy is home with her today as I am already taking 1/2 day off work tomorrow to try and make it to the Baltimore Zoo on Saturday sooooooo.  We will see what plans Regan’s body has and take it from there.

In the meantime, it is back to the salt mines for me.

Making up Songs

Granted it shows that SOMEONE’S imagination is running wild (unfortunately my imagination is a little on the jaded side right now) however the newest song is HILARIOUS in a very sick Ali and David way.  I always knew that our daughter would be doomed with humor!

Every night we sing 3 songs before sleep time.  Well lately, I think that she is just tired of all her old standby’s and now has begun making up songs.  Sometimes she wants a song about feet, or something that is really hard for me to do without just repeating the specific thing that she wants a song about.  However, Friday night David put Regan down for bed and she made up a new song.  Are you ready for this?  Let me prompt you to not be eating or drinking liquids while reading the words to this new song.

I don’t pee on the potty, I don’t poop on the potty, I FART on the potty.

Of course fart is always accentuated - because of course that IS the funniest word in the entire song.

The kind of funny thing is that it is all true.

Hot Air Balloon Festival

Honestly, I don’t think that I could ever upload too many pictures from the Hot Air Balloon Festival but I know that I really can’t do that here (not enough space).  But I will share a couple shots with you.  This was once again another great showing of Hot Air Balloons.  We had great weather this morning to enjoy it, while a little brisk, the wind was down and that is what counts in getting to see them lift off and sail away.

There was one gentleman there that actually filled his balloon but did not lift off.  He stayed grounded and answered questions.  He started picking kids up and letting the kids pull the trigger to “heat” up the balloon.  (Regan wasn’t happy with how noisy they were)  He was very informational about what he does and how he does it.   Beez ‘N Flowers is his balloon and was the last to inflate but it did so right in front of us as you can see.

David kept making comment about how he forgot how big these balloons really are.

Last but not least, yes we got there early! I loved taking this because I actually did do the whole sequence of the sun coming up but this is one of my favorites with it just saying good morning!

Hill High Farm

Saturday was fun.  We took Regan to a working farm out here where they let the public come onto the farm and pet calves, bunnies, goats, and cows.  The have their pumpkins out for people to pick, then you also have the option to take a ride out to the pumpkin patch and apple orchard to pick a pumpkin from the vine and an apple from the tree.  They have a hay bale maze as well.

Then we stopped by Marker Miller Farm Market. Okay they have a GREAT selection of apples to choose from. The Apple Cider Donuts are to die for. The have wine tasting that you can partake in - we didn’t but they have it. And their playground - well let’s just say that Regan didn’t want to leave. There were so many kids that it was getting crazy! But we got Donuts for breakfast for “Surprise” Sunday (blog to come) and I got more apples. Different kinds for us to try. Regan has taken to eating an apple like an apple and not letting me core and slice it. She does well but she doesn’t eat as much of the apple that way. I finished hers today for lunch!

This was just a shot of some of the color that is starting to appear in Winchester, VA from Marker Miller.
